Saturday, 10th November 2007, “Magical World of Disney”
A concert for all the family - 4pm at the British Club, Silom

The magic of the Walt Disney movies and characters has reached and affected all of us of all ages.  Our lives have been enriched and enlivened by the beauty and creativity of Pinocchio, Sleeping Beauty and all of the great stories of the Disney movies.

The Bangkok Music Society is pleased to present A Magical World of Dreams and Wishes, an afternoon of Disney Songs interpreted by soprano Dana Garnett and pianist Tony Newman.  Their ability to bring the Disney characters to life in song is a treat for the whole family to hear.  For your listening pleasure they will perform

The programme will be held on Saturday, 10 November 2007, at 4 PM in the Suirwongse Room of the British Club, Soi 18 Silom Rd.  Tickets are 700 Baht for BMS Members, 800 Baht for Non-Members and 400 Baht for Children and Students with Children 3 and under admitted free.

We are very fortunate to have artists of such caliber presently in Bangkok.  Dana was born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana and obtained her music degree from the University of North Texas.  Her experience includes solo vocal recitals in many parts of the world, regional opera, choral groups, including a televised performance with the Brussels Choral Society, and soloist of liturgical music.  Along with doing local volunteer work, Dana currently teaches private voice lessons in the surrounds of International School Bangkok, where she lives with her husband and her two daughters.

Originally from Southport in the UK, Tony is currently based in Bangkok working as Asia Pacific Regional Actuary for a multi-national insurance company.  A keen pianist since the age of four, Tony has had a wide experience at the keyboard including repetiteur for many opera productions.  He has been a generous supporter of the BMS and other organizations while in Bangkok and is well remembered for his stunning performance of the Grieg Sonata in G minor with renowned violinist Leo Phillips in the BMS Romantic Encounter program.  He played a set of Debussy Preludes on the BMS concert on 6 October to great acclaim.

Dana and Tony collaborated on an outstanding program of art songs last March at Amantee and donated the proceeds to the BMS Scholarship Fund.  We are very grateful that they have agreed to present this concert to that benefit as well.
